people outside of NY and the theatre community are much more accepting of shows despite flaws. a big name Disney movie/character/show will definitely do well, and the Little Mermaid is one of the most cherished Disney movies of all time. That will entice a lot of people to the theatre to see it when it is right in their own city, even if they didnt think it was worth going all the way to NYC for. It may not have been the best for broadway, but i think it will make a fantastic tour.

If we had a poll on this site as to which what people thought would sell better, comparing Shrek to The Little Mermaid, I am sure it would be Mermaid.

I have had confirmation from a cast member on Broadway that for several reasons the tour is officially off.

All that I know is that the recent Broadway version of the show is touring.

"Disney just announced that they were working on "a new version" of the show. Maybe it's for a tour?"

It's suppose to tour Europe.
