If 3 audition notices for Little Shop posted today on actorsequity.org are any sign, the production will begin previews in September, open in October, under the director of Jerry Zaks!
All roles are (supposedly?) open.

this is good new, but i it is also sad because of all the wonderful actors that were already in the show. i hope they dont recast the leads!!!!! do you think they will???
Who knows? I have a feeling Hunter and Alice will get in--but who knows? To be honest--a dorky Houston boy like me hopes and dreams to have the chance to be cast as an unknown--but more realistically--to just be the understudy--or 3rd swing--or wino #5 or SOMETHING! lol

i think we should all write to the producers saying that we want the same cast in the leads!!!!!! :)
i agree with you robactorguy i would love to hear alice, hunter and billy sing these songs on the cast recording!!!!!!
well--open casting is probably a formality--they are either looking to resign the Florida cast or find new stars. OR, maybe a dorky, extremely talented unknown....lol

you you say resign the fl cast do you mean keep the show running in fl while the current cast practices for the broadway prodution???
no--cast the Florida cast for the bway production Rehearsals don't start until end of July.
I think Lee Wilkoff might be the only major problem, because his wife was involved in the production they pulled.

Oh that sucks, it's like a dream come true to return to the show you created, only to play another character, like Andrea McArdle did Star to Be in Annie film. Poor Lee, if that's the case...

but why would they have audtions if lee was the problem??
no--lee wasn't necessarily the problem, but he prob won't be attached if Connie is not involved. Who knows who Zaks wants replaced? Who knows if they are really looking to cast all those parts? If anything, they are looking for the understudies and swings. If anything, they are obligated by Equity to hold an audition for the show--all those auditioning could be doing so in vain. =)

Don't believe what you read---this show is dead in the water. Period.
Audition notices on the Actor's Equity web site are hardly bits of gossip. They are obviously moving ahead with Zaks on board and doing so quickly.

I certainly hope the show survives. The production I saw in FL last week was terrific, even if it did look and sound almost identical to the original.
