I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!
ok let me be a little more specific...
Anthony Rapp (Seymour) did a FABULOUS job. I didnt do much researching before i bought the tickets so I had no idea he was with this tour! That was such a pleasent surprise for me He doesnt seem to have aged a bit since RENT in appearence or tone quality... What I loved most about this performance was how well he knows the movements of his body... like in all the parts he dances, it just looks like it comes so naturally to him. He was also really nice at the stage door... i was one of 3 people waiting, and we chatted a while about the RENT movie... he says that 'hes still thinking about it'... which I thought was interesting to hear, because other resources made it sound like he's not planning to be a part of it all...
Tari Kelly (Audrey) did a wonderful job as well. She has a wonderful stage presence and I would kill for her great range and belting ability. (her 'Somewhere That's Green almost made me crack up when she was talking about her 'huge 12 inch tv') The only thing I think she could have done better is when she is 'slapped' by Orin, she sort of had a slow reaction time making the whole thing look obviously fake. Otherwise, it was an outstanding performance
Yasmeen Sulieman, Amina Robinson, and Latonya Holmes (Chiffon, Crystal, and Ronnette) These 3 voices blend together so well and I was totaly into their facial expressions. The only thing I wish they had done differently was 1 of them (i'm not sure who) was way more alive and peppy with the dance moves than the other 2-whoever it was, I enjoyed her performance more.
James Moye (Orin etc) He was absolutely fabulous todaay and even nicer at the stage door. I wasnt planning to go to the stage door this time because I wasnt well aquainted with the names of the cast and I saw a matinee so I didnt bring my sharpie. When I saw who was in the cast, I decided to give it a shot. James ran back inside and got a sharpie for me to use for the rest of the cast
Everyone else In the cast I have nothing in particular to remark on because they were PERFECT! I am so glad I had the opportunity to see all these wonderful actors

Raves from the Dallas Morning News support your review. Show opens in LA Tues. Aug 24 for about a month at the Ahmanson.
I can't wait to see this show in the Winter. That's a great stage door story, by the way.

Will the whole cast(more of AR) stay for the whole tour?

I saw the exact same performance this afternoon with some people in my high school theatre dept. (we're thinking about doing LSoH) and I was so excited to see Anthony. I really wanted his autograph, but we stayed in the theatre for a short seminar on the pupetree of the show (which the cast took part in) and I think I missed my chance!! But I also loved the show...I think some of my less bway acquainted friends didn't love it like i did, but I was excited enough for the whole group.
Man! You are so lucky! was the cast in the lobby or where and was it right after the show or after a few minutes (like after the seminar)??
great to hear how good it is. Also great to hear that they are approaching some of the OBC for the movie.

That's awsome--I'd see it if it were relatively near NY, cuz I saw the Les Miz tour a few months ago in NJ and it was totally worth the trip. Plus I'd love to see anthony rapp because I've never seen him perform live and he seems like the Seymour type.

Are they really making a new movie of it?
I just got back from the evening show. It really is spectacular... this is my second time to see the tour. We saw it last Tuesday, and it was excellent as well, though there were only 2 urchins. Of course, my mother had to call the place and complain about it, hoping to get a discount to see it again. They gave us 4 tickets FREE for tonight's performance. !!!!!? Don't ask me how she does it...
Tonight was a little more lively, being a Saturday night, so it was a little better this time.
Anthony Rapp is really who I came for. I've been reading about LSOH and haven't heard GLOWING reviews of it. At the same time, I thought the storyline was well, odd. But I came away from this show with much more than I thought I would.
First of all, Tari Kelly really impressed me. Her voice is booming (in the soprano way), her comic timing is killer, and like the first poster said, a HUGE stage presence. (Her website is really well put together, by the way)
This was also the first time for me to see Anthony Rapp, who I worship in my OBC of Rent. He's really an incredible actor. Very in tune with movement, timing, reactions, emotions... and his voice, as different as it is, still gets my heart racing.
I bought the New BCR after seeing the show on Tuesday and was less than enthused. Judging by voice, I think Anthony's portrayal is far surperior to Hunter Foster's. Likewise with Tari Kelly and Kerry Butler.
The 3 urchins- these girls are so vivacious they almost steal the whole show. Their sporadic visits are kind of comforting in a way, while things are running.. amuck.
I met Anthony at the stage door on Tuesday night. Had him sign my Rent CD sleeve, heh. He's awfully quiet, though very kind. I was expecting him to be jumpy... I don't know. :p
I had a TERRIFIC time at both shows. It really is a production not to be missed.

Great story! You really have to love actors who really are all about their fans, willing to go out of their way to accomodate. That's another reason why I almost prefer tours to Broadway, much nicer people! (not always, but I've heard much better stories from tours!) And its awesome to hear that Anthony is thinking about Rent!
Now I have to see the LSOH tour!

they came out a stage door to the right of the theatre probably after the seminar was over... i decided to sacrifice knowing how the puppets worked so I would have time to find that stage door and know that no one had left yet. was the seminar any good? My family came with me to this performance so I told them to 'stay and watch it while I go be an obsessive broadway fan' lol

The seminar was pretty interesting--the last audrey 2 weighs five tons! It was conducted by mostly the two puppeteers and the actors chimed in every once in a while...we had trouble hearing though--I kept thinking "Come on Anthony Rapp, you're a Broadway actor, you know you have to speak louder than that for us to hear you in the back". But it wasn't just him.
Anyway, the guy that played Audrey II was straight from the Bway Production. I was a little disapointed in him...I mean if you watch the movie or have the original off-bway recording, he doesn't seem to quite have what those others do.
mywonderwa11, do a lot of shows come to austin? I'm a senior and I'm probably going to UT.
