Hello, all. Long-time poster and reader here. This is one of those imaginary plays where the playwrights brings together real people who may or may not have known one another. Funny, I don't recall reading that Lillian Hellman and Gertrude Stein were enemies.

Guess the playwright either overlooked or didn't know this about Ms Stein. "She publicly endorsed General Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War and admired Vichy leader Marshal Philippe Pétain"  Oops!

She speaks explicitly in the play about Petain and her views and her motives.
