--- I didnt see a post about this, so I thought it was saafe to post. If it already has been - my apologies.
"The Civil War-era sisters of feisty heroine Jo March will be Renee Brna as Meg; Autumn Hurlbert as Beth; and Gwen Hollander as Amy.
Michael Minarik will be romantic John Brooke; Andrew Varela, a Little Women Broadway understudy, will graduate to the role of Prof. Bhaer; and Robert Stattel will reprise his Broadway role of gruff neighbor Mr. Laurence.
Aunt March will be played by Louisa Flaningan.
Casting for the roles of Jo and boy-next-door Laurie have not be announced."
I'm so excited! In a previous post I said there was a women I know who was supposed to replace one of the sisters shortly (and then the show was closed) It's Gwen Hollander! (She is going to be a incredible Amy!!! --- She is SUCH a talent!!)
Yay Little Women tour cast!
is Maureen McGovern still going to be Marmee? Because she is AMAZING in the role. Her days of plenty had me in tears.
Yes she is. I forgot to post that part, sorry.
Yes, Ms. McGovern is touring with the show (woot!). I'm excited to hear about Jo and Laurie's casting.

Here is my question. How long do you think the tour will actually survive? I saw one of the last shows during it's premiere in Durham, NC and I was less than thrilled with what I saw. I liked Sutton Foster, even though she was Millie in a different time period, I liked Laurie and I liked the set and I liked... Oh yeah, that was it. It was pretty much a huge flop on Broadway so why take it out on the road? Are the producers masochists or what? I certainly don't mean to come across as a bitch by any means but I just don't get it. Oh well, to each their own.
Well, (I dont know how biased this is, because I enjoyed the show on Broadway), but audiences Nationally are different. It's rare for the average american to want to get to New York and pay $100 to see a show on Broadway, so when a show comes to them, it is very likely for them to go to their nearby Performing Arts Center and see a show, for almost half the price of Broadway. And fortunately, i think Little Women is geared toward these people. Parents with girls who would love to see this show, but would never fly to NYC to see it. -- Just my opinion.
I'm really interested in seeing who ends up as Jo and Laurie!

i think that the tour will last a long time actually. I think that it was marketed poorly on BWY and that middle america especially, will want to go see this wholesome, good musical. I personally didn't think the show was as bad as everyone made it out to be. It had engaging characters, good songs (not great), and a nice story. I personally think that the duet between John Brooke and Meg is one of the best songs in the show, and MAureen McGovern singing her ballads made her songs spectacular. Yes, things were omitted from the book that maybe shouldn't have been, yea I think some of the roles were miscast, but all in all the show is not a "Urban Cowboy", or a "Dance of the Vampires", or "Good Vibrations" or even "Dracula". The show has merit. Let's see if the tour cast can find it.
I think the tour will do just fine. The book has enough credibility to draw a crowd that will also enjoy the genre of the music in the show nationwide. We're talkin' like, 2 week stints in bigger cities - I think it'll do well.
Besides, there are places like here that will think the world of it - I mean, c'mon, here in Cleveland people went absolutely nuts and raving on and on about On The Record!! (I spent most of the evening drooling over getting to see Emily Skinner live as most people went "Emily who? Who's that?" and just shaking my head because everyone was like "what an amazing show! I'm coming again!")
Michael Minarik was great in Urinetown, so I look forward to seeing him in this.

cool - well if anyone on the boards is going, break a leg! :)
are they looking at mostly unknowns or are there some names of people we know and love in there as well? (don't want specific names, and I'm sure if you know you can't share - just curious as to which way they're going with casting for the tour)

Sounds like great casting to me. My pick for Laurie would be Joe Machota.
I can't wait to see this show!
hopefully the tour does good! it's a shame it closed i thougt it was amazing!
Is Laurie the neighbor? How old is he?
I vote Sutton and Danni reprise their roles in the tour...i know it wont happen but one can always dream

Bumping this, because the adorkable, wonderful, talented Stephen (Brian) Patterson will be playing Laurie!

I agree with whoever said that regionally theatres are different. I know where I live some audiences tend to like things that haven't done so well on Broadway or never even made it to a Broadway run. And I'd be interested to see what they do with the show considering I never saw it on Broadway. Also regarding likes or dislikes I think it depends on ones taste. Like I think if someone likes the book or films of Little Women they might like the musical. At least that's the case with me. I don't know about anyone else.
Really Stephen Patterson as Laurie? Okay. He's good. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but I don't really have a first choice either so it doesn't matter. I could see him as Laurie.
I think Steve will be wonderful as Laurie. I saw him in Urinetown in Toronto last summer and in I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change in April. His CD is great as well...what a voice! I know Steve as well as his wife and they are such nice (and extremely talented) people.
so that just leaves Jo... are they keeping it a secret or something the tour starts in August
