Once again, those of us STUCK here in Upstate NY get cheated. We never get a show until three years after the tour starts!!Come to think of it, it takes just about the same length of time to take Amtrak into NYC!

Posted: 5/27/05 at 10:13pmLOL what can I say I'm sweet as pie, she'll love it and ball her eyes out, Its sad to see the show go, despite the fact it wasn't brilliant it was def touching and cute, but I think the grandma demographic is where the show has much of its appeal

...I'm having the problem with Les Mis tour, I missed it on broadway due to an inexcusable oblivion to broadway for much of my life, and now am waiting for it to get somewhere near Long Island...Someday hopefully

Posted: 5/28/05 at 12:44amHey, stonewall2... how far upstate ARE you? In Albany I know that Proctor's Theater is expanding this summer quite a bit to accomidate the larger tours and is persuing some of the much more recent material- I've heard the tour of "Spelling Bee" being tossed around as a replacement for "The Producers" tour that was supposed to come in to town.

a lot of times, the producers still try to book cities even after the tour itinerary has been published. Portland is not on the itinerary either, but it is on broadwayacrossamerica...you should call the theater to find out directly.

BwayTheatre11, where do you live. I'm in Rochester, NY. Some people consider it to be western because it isn't really upstate. Stonewall2 lives here too. Nothing comes here and it is a long way to NYC. According to MapQuest this is the distance to the Gershwin Theatre.
Total Est. Time: 5 hours, 25 minutes Total Est. Distance: 326.31 miles
Not a quick jaunt in the car. Amtrack takes even longer. It might look shorter but believe me it takes forever.

Posted: 5/29/05 at 10:42pmHey, BwayTheatre11, I have access to LA too, and the trip there is easier- and cheaper- than to NYC! Believe me, this is a city in the middle of nowhere. Rochester is the listed as the "most expensive airport to fly out of in the US" and our train service is horrible. On the upside,we do have a terrific orchestra and a good regional theatre (GEVA), but if we want to catch a good touring company, we have to head west to Cleveland or hope that a show parks itself in Toronto!
