Today's (10/6/03) Liz Smith column had an interview with Donna Murphy and the upcoming Wonderful Town production. The Encores production was also mentioned. I thought Raymond Jaramillo McLeod's (Mars & Venus column on this site)name should be added since he was in the Encores production and will be in the Broadway show. Does anyone know how to contact Liz Smith? I have been searching and haven't found it yet.

I know absolutely nothing about Liz Smith, only that when I came to New York her name was splattered across every single Broadway show advert. On that alone I made a judgement that she's the kind of critic that says praise to get her name on posters.

Liz Smith is NOT a critic. She's a gossip columnist. He column appears daily in NEWSDAY. You might try contacting here through the newspaper. I believe their website is NEWSDAY.COM

It used to be said that if Liz smith praised a show then it was in deep trouble. She used to be effusive in her praise for shows that were dying at the box office. That isn't alwasys the case now.

She does have a "thing" for Liz Taylor, though.

Liz Smith is a throughly dreadful woman. Did anyone else see her and my heroine, Governor Ann Richards, "singing" at the Phyllis Newman benefit? I was praying that the Governor's stage pistol was loaded and she would put a clean shot through that old hag's eyes.

Bronte my love, remind me of the tune they warbled. It wasn't Yellow Rose of Texas, was it? My memory is fading and I'm not even menopausal (yet).

I love Ms. Richard to itty bitty bits too, but that duet with Liz was pretty painful.

That is the first thing that I tried. There is absolutely no contact listed with her column or anywhere else on the paper. I emailed Newsday and asked how I could contact her and just got the usual feedback - Thanks for contacting us, blah blah blah. So I don't know if they will ever answer me.

I was waiting tables at west bank cafe when Donna Murphy was interviewed last week. It wasn't even liz smith interviewing her. It was some middle aged man with a tablet.

Do you have something against "middle-aged" men? If so, Albin will be very upset.

Do you honestly believe Liz Smith knows how to read email? Do you think she ever has turned on a computer? Do you think she is even really still alive?

That PECULIAR duet was actually to "I'm a Lone Cowhand from the Rio Grande". I realize publicity sells books & newspapers but that was positively bonechilling in its badness. Hell, Baba Wawa had more reason to be there, coming from a showbiz family!

Yup. Didn't I say that she was effusive in her praise for turkies?
