Was this cast recording ever released on CD? Anyone have a copy on LP? I'd love to hear the sublime Ms. Buckley sing this infectious score...

A simple google search of Anthony Roberts, Promises Promises reveals several copies of the CD for sale. Here is one:

Those are CDRs and not legitimate releases. Right now the title cannot be licensed - in fact, I have the master tapes sitting on the floor of my living room.

Sorry, bk, he didn't ask if they were legal, just if they were obtainable.

And now that I think about it, just out of interest, what master tapes are you talking about? And why do you have them? And why are they on your living room floor...? So many questions.....

So bk, you do have the originals for the London "Promises, Promises". I was wondering, since that's the last major "United Artists" cast album that hasn't been released yet on CD. And with the slew of them that were released recently (Anya, Ilya Darling, House of Flowers off-Broadway), I was hoping that London "Promises, Promises" would make it sooner or later. It's a shame they can't be licensed. Perhaps it's because they are planning on recording the upcoming revival?

Would love to hear Buckley's vocals, which must be thrilling. Much bigger voice than O'Hara's. But a strange sensibility for the role -- Buckley was hot and glamourous (look at CARRIE -- the film, that is). Odd choice for the waif-ish Fran.

I cannot go into why I have the tapes, but I have them. I've been trying to license the title for ages and it cannot be done right now, for reasons that I'm not really at liberty to go into. You can be sure if it ever does become available, I will be the one doing it.

Yeah. Curious. I hope that this gets out sometime because tapes sitting on a floor do no good for anyone, you included. Good luck with that.
