Is it correct that there is not a recording of the show with Ms. McKee on it? I heard her version of "Bill" on Comcast's Broadway channel a while back and I was wondering what album it was on.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Wait - there's no cast album from the Harold Prince revival?

There is at least a video of the Houston Grand Opera version that she did in the 1980's.

She's on the 1993 Prince revival disc.

She is indeed on the 1993 Toronto cast album of SHOW BOAT. (I am playing her track of "Bill" on my program this coming Saturday.)

The CD is not currently in print. It was produced by Livent and originally released in Canada by Quality and in the U.S. by RCA Vitor, but the rights are among Livent's assetts. It could be a long time before they get sorted out.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

One of my favorite cast recordings because of Lonette McKee's brilliant renditions of both "Bill" and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man Of Mine," hers are my favorite versions of both songs. She is wonderful in this recording.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

She was fabulous in Show Boat, but I never heard much of her after that production. Does anyone know anything about her career or did I just miss it? Thanks for any info!

I saw her in Showboat when I was really young and she was the absolute standout to me back in 3rd grade... I know, doesnt say much but still remember her performance pretty darn well considering how long ago it was. I dont know that she has been up to recently, I know shes done a couple of TV movies here and there but thats all I've seen of her.

PBS (I believe)did a special at the time of that production----they recorded the practice, recording, etc. of the cast. I don't know if it's available, but Lonette McKee was wonderful. I forgot the name of the actress who sang "Can't Help Lovin'", but she was also amazing.

She was terrific in the '93 revival, and had she not already been eligible for a previous Tony, I'm sure she would have been nominated, and perhaps even won it. She was that good.

I LOVE her rendition of "Bill!" But, her "Can't Help Lovin Dat' Man of Mine," is not my favorite. I really wish they recorded the "miscegenation scene" because I'm sure her acting was brilliant.

It looks like she has a website, but it doesn't seem to be updated? I think I saw her a few years ago in a cabaret concert in San Francisco, and the couple next to me said they had seen her perform on a cruise ship.
