Any news on this? I know the Weill estate is very picky on what is recorded (hence no 3penny revival disc).

Well I'm not sure that is the only reason.
But the Weill foundation seems to be behind this production. No, not seems to be. Is.
We'll see. I think it will, for the performances alone.
I'd think the Weill foundation would be interested in getting this show recorded since from what Alfred Uhry says, they provided him with a lot of rare songs, some of which he included. I figured they'd want those songs to go recorded, as well as the show itself since the show commemorates Weill.
I got my fingers crossed, I need a recording of Murphy's "Surabaya Johnny."
I would love them to record these performances for posterity. Ray is right, 'Surabaya Johnny' should not be lost to the ether.
The Weill Foundation was absolutely in support of last year's Threepenny revival. I was in contact with the Foundation myself, as well as cast members who had been in touch with them. The issue was entirely financial; the interested labels (Ghostlight and PS Classics to name two) just didn't have the funds to foot the bill.
I would imagine that the Weill Foundation would be just as interested in seeing Kurt's work preserved on a Lovemusik cast recording. Here's hoping this one works out...
