Posted: 7/18/04 at 12:03pmoh wow! i love this thread. i too am a really LOW alto and this helps me out a lot. i definitely gone lower than an E below middle C. i've been taking lessons and i have yet to find a song go any lower than a G below middle C. the only exception i have is in my Cabaret song book where there is a low E in the title song.

Posted: 7/18/04 at 1:00pmI love how no matter what the subject is, whether it be best musical ever, best score ever, lowest note ever, highest note ever, greatest love song ever written, best voice, worst voice, greatest performance by a hermaphrodite, lamest lyrics, longest song, hottest outfit, best female belt, someone ALWAYS says Wicked. Always.

Thanks MusicMan!
For the record, when I wake up in the morning, not warmed up, on a bad day, I can hit a D below middle C.
Warmed up, good day, I can get down to an A.

Posted: 7/18/04 at 1:45pmThis is by far, one of the most ridiculous threads and blatant examples of our youth having too little to do. Are you freaking kidding me with this topic? Who cares? How does this enhance or take away from any one of your lives? And don't worry, Jamie Hat, next year it'll be some other half baked show that "they'll all be in a tizzy about. The "Wicked" obsession, will be over the second some new crappy show with yet another mediocre, highly touted lead comes along. Broadway is virtually flooded with those.

Posted: 7/18/04 at 2:05pmYou all need a great deal of therapy. I wasn't even TALKING about Wicked. I was talking about the absurdity of the original thread title and the time and space devoted to it. But gee, I'm so intimidated by you all, really, I'm shaking in my shoes. Damn me for not praying to the Wicked Gods. How absolutely ignorant of me! I should be sent to my room without dessert immediately. Tsk, tsk, Al! (Al is fervently slapping his own wrist). For those of you who don't recognize the word "fervently" it means that Idina and Kristin and Wicked and everything associated with it SUCK and i know this to be true because my dog-sitter told me so. He heard it from someone on "Anonymous Wicked hater's.com".

Sorry you didn't understand the sarcasm. It's funny, admit it. Maybe if the wizard was a hermaphrodite his songs would be better. :)
I think Wicked is great don't get me wrong, but go see some other friggin shows PLEASE!

Does anyone know what note Elaine Paige started at when she did the two octabe slide at the end of this performance of Blow, Gabriel, Blow?

When Gary Coleman is played by a woman in drag in Avenue Q, he goes down to a D below Middle C in "Schadenfreude".

Honestly, every single note that Bea Arthur ever sang. She was one heck of a baritone.

What about Mary Martin's final "Do" in "Do Re Mi"? I don't read music, but that has always sounded pretty low to me.
