Lucy Simon's Zhivago - w/Anthony Warlow

Anyone check out the site for the Sydney production lately? There are a few downloads of songs with Anthony Warlow singing - sounds like another great score from Lucy Simon...Can't seem to get the song 'Now' out of my head. Do check it out; would be great to get some producers to bring this to the states.

Shill or not, this looks pretty great. I love Lucy Simon and have been waiting for her to come out with a new score. Anthony Warlow has probably my favorite male theater voice. It's quite perfect, imo. Cant wait for a cast album.

It says in the press release on the website that they open in April.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."

"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS

His falsetto in "Now" was simply gorgeous! Very nice song...I felt Lara was a bit nasal, but she has some notes!

Crewes is adorable and I remember loving his voice in Woman in White. It was one of the only things I liked in that crapfest.

Still in rehearsal, I think. I know there was a West Coast production at some point, but this might be a revised version...?

In any case, some haunting music. Looking forward to more; maybe a cast album should emerge from Down Under, build some hype??

I adore Anthony Warlow and would be thrilled if he came here for this

I'd be thrilled if he came here in anything - as long as he gets to sing!

Oh my dears. This score sounds like out takes from A Tale of Two Cities. Mush, lush muzak for the theatre. Warlow is boring and bland and this seems like something that might have had legs 15 years ago. The time is past for this type of white elephant. This might find a home in Korea or Branson but not on Broadway. Lucy Simon should stick to writing music for Hallmark movies.

Zhivago played in La Jolla about three years ago and almost opened on the West End later. In my opinion, Lucy Simon's score had several beautiful melodies. But the storyline was a mess with to much historic atmosphere and not enough passion.

It is my understanding that the book in the new musical which opens next month is greatly improved and I know that a few new songs have been added and some others removed. It has a lot of potential and I suspect that having Warlow will help keep the theaters filled. I am looking forward to hearing about the changes.

Hoping to catch the first preview or tech run of this in early Feb.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

I have tickets to the final dress rehearsal on Feb 10th. I do not have high hopes at all but am looking forward to seeing a relatively new show, rather than an imported production. Having said that, I was totally bored in The Secret Garden.
