She was of the kindest people I have ever met. So kind and nuturing. I'll always remember Lynn's generosity towards my mother and my friends.

Posted: 5/3/10 at 2:58pmRest In Peace Miss Redgrave. A stunning and gifted actress and a class act. My thoughts go out to Vanessa and the rest of the family. May you get through this. It's such a shame that one of the most wonderful and gifted families have lost 3 people before their time in one year. Once again my prayers go out to the Redgrave Family and may Natasha, Corin and Lynn rest in peace.

Posted: 5/3/10 at 3:03pmI remember her being the saving grace of a revival of Aren't We All? in 1985 -- with a cast that included Rex Harrison, Claudette Colbert, Jeremy Brett and George Rose -- all gone now. The play was dated but Lynn stole the show from these other titans. She was always a lovely presence in anything she was in. RIP -- I know you're going to be welcomed with open arms!

Posted: 5/3/10 at 3:56pmShe will be remembered for her copious amount of acting on the stage and screen, with several starring and featured roles. However, the role that will always stick in my mind when I hear her name is for a tiny role she originated in a film adaptation of PETER PAN back in 2003. She created the character of "Aunt Millicent" that was made up for the movie. While I was not in favor of the character being created, I was won over by Redgrave's performance. Had it been anyone else, I (a Peter Pan historian) would have totally objected to the character. Such a tiny drop in the ocean of her work, but this role/film was personal to me.

So sad to hear this. I loved several of her performances.
She talks about her relationship with her father and some other aspects of her personal history in the interview below. Fascinating stuff.

Mamie - that was perfection.
As was Ms. Redgrave.
This saddens me more than most does.

So many memorable performances over the years, both Broadway and film.
For a joyous and little-known film treat, check out SMASHING TIME in which she co-stars with Rita Tushingham as two provincial girls in London going wild in the days when Carnaby Street was the epicenter of youth.
