MATRIX!!!

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with musicals (no, I would not want to see a singing Neo in the near or far future) but I just had to spread the news on this movie. It is the best movie I have ever seen! Hands down, wow! The saddest part is that it has to end...why oh why? :c( So see it...spend the money, it is so worth it. I had to pay $9.25 and I would do it again. And again, and again! :c)

hmmmm...here's something musical-ish: The music is awesome too! Not as techno has the 2nd movie...a little more classic. Big orchestral stuff, kinda like John Williams. It was done by Don Davis.

It's also about purpose which is the main theme in Avenue Q!

whew, I knew this couldn't be that off topic.

Even if 'The Matrix' was the only movie I had ever seen I would resist calling it 'The Best Movie I've Ever Seen.'

More bad sci-fi draped in even more inane philosophy, bad acting and over-zealous if visually entertaining special effects.

What a wretched series of movies.

oh but it isn't sci-fi...I would not put it in that genre at all. It's so much more than the bad special effects of minature spaceships trying to laser beam the big bad aliens from Mars. The special effects are obviously a big part of the movie, but whoever was in charge and worked on it did such a good job it looks natural. Not like Star Wars, Episode 1, 2, and I'm sure 3. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars, but you can tell the actors are in front of a blue screen for the whole movie! And the Matrix actors did an excellent job. Keeanu is not the best (do we all remember the classic line, "There's a bomb on the bus!") but he has just the right way to deliver his lines and it fits. It fits the Matrix and the type of movie it's supposed to be.

Now the 2nd Matrix was overstuffed with lots of mind-boggling philosophy, but the last one really just had one clean & clear message. Purpose. Choices. Why humans do continue to fight against seemingly impossible obstacles.

It was just a really really good movie. One of the best.

Merle, Dottie Lamour, Keanu, Vin...One can never have enough exotic, glamorous, sex-sational multiracial beauties - in Hollywood or anywhere else!

Bad sci-fi is more than just bad special effects, in fact, spaceships are one of the least important elements of science fiction, utterly irrelevant to the discussion at hand. 'The Matrix' storyline is based purely on a scientific concept, that being that the human mind expends energy that can be converted into a usable energy (which as they describe is inconsistent. Using the logic of 'The Matrix,' any mammal could be used in place of humans as sources for the battery and you'd think the Powers would realize that, say, cows would probably be a lot less trouble than humans.) It wants to be science fiction, it just lacks the ability to be it. It's aped from a comic book series called 'The Invisibles,' as well as movies like 'Dark City' that use the same basic concepts (and, in the case of 'The Invisibles, enough similarity that lawsuits were considered.) A similar (and actually logical) idea was put forth in Dan Simmons' excellent 'Hyperion' novels.

'The Matrix' is absolutely a bad science fiction movie. It's a dumb, dumb movie desperately trying to drape itself in intelligent concepts. Or, if that doesn't work, it has a lot of people being kicked in the head, too.
