I noticed his last album, (the one only released in Europe previously) was out this week at ye olde cd shoppe. And that he does a cover of "Tear Me Down" from Hedwig & The Angry Inch. Have you heard it?

I didn't know the new CD was out but I will be getting it post haste now that I heard a few songs from it.
So do you like Meat Loaf, Namo?

Well, not really. But he was great in the Spice Girls movie. And I do love Hedwig & The Angry Inch.

Well, I don't know who/what Hedwig & The Angry Inch is/are. I do think that Meat Loaf has a GREAT voice. He could do anything--Opera, Broadway, Rock, whatever.

Oh, honey, you gotta see yourself some Hedwig. It was an Off-Broadway show a few years ago, turned into an impressive film, available now for rent or purchase. I know you'd like it, because you're a fan of myths and stories, and Hedwig actually incorporates Plato's symposium and covers the creation myths, which underlies Hedwig's quest.
The first song in the show and the movie, "Tear Me Down," is the one Meatloaf covers, that is really Hedwig's declaration of self and call to arms. Ya gotta see it.
It's on VHS and DVD, region 1, with a surprisingly crisp film to digital transfer and it occured to me it would look GREAT in Cinerama. Many transfers are sometimes bleary around the edges, but not this one. The sound is also impeccable. God, did that last paragraph make me sound like the kind of industry nerd who has no friends and does nothing but watch DVDs to feel less alone? LOL
You can find it here
You know the one unfortunate thing about HEDWIG? It was completely forgotten at Oscar time. As well as in most discussions about CHICAGO being part of a new breed of movie musical.
Does the NY TIMES still refer to him as Mr. Loaf?

I'll give it a look/see Namo.
I don't know if they still call him Mr. Loaf or not. I know I would! ![]()

Whatever the last movie I saw him in was (WAS it Spice World?), he was billed as Meatloaf Adair in the opening creds. Or however you spell it.

I believe it's Aday. His first name was Marvin then he had it legally changed to Meat Loaf but found he had so many problems getting through customs he changed/added Michael.

I thought Meat was a highlight of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He tore "Hot Patootie" up!
I saw Meat live in concert a few weeks ago at Wolf Trap in Virginia. He's still got it, and was truly amazing.
