Man, oh, man. I have always been in awe of Vanessa Redgrave-in my opinion, the greatest living actress-and that awe was further realized last night when she opened in the RSC production of "Hecuba" at BAM. The feeling that you get when you watch a truly spectacular actor at work is alive and well in Brooklyn. Like Deborah Warner's "Medea" three years ago, an old classic has been brought to vibrant and utterly terrifying life.

Adapted by Tony Harrison from the original text by Euripides, this new "Hecuba" seems especially relevant. Hecuba exacts her revenge in a chilling manner that will make your blood turn cold, and tears will stream down your face furiously.

I really am at a loss for words to describe Ms. Redgrave's earth-shattering Hecuba, so I won't even try. I'll just tell you to get to Brooklyn and see the greatest actress living perform a theatrical miracle.

Just out of interest, MEF, who is listed as director?

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I cannot find by bill, and I checked the website, which lists no director. I'll look again for my bill.

Had heard she'd had him fired. Guess not.

Pop, did you see the Claire Higgins production? I would've loved to have seen that.

She is quite extraordinary (I'm sure her Linda Loman is beyond brilliant).
