I saw her opening night and she definately was not dazzling...
I have seen Chicago a few times prior to that, and have enjoyed it a lot more...I dont think her contract should have been extended...It should have been taken away...
CJR I'm ready with that alibi ANYTIME!!!

I was at last nights performance, and I was embarrased for her. Acting wise, yeah, she fits the role. However, I was worried the whole time that she was going to pass out from a drug overdose. Her singing was pathetic, and her dancing was, well just not dancing at all. I heard a man say, and I quote, "She must suck in bed the way she mooves up there!!" I dont get it. Bring back Bebe and I personally think that Charoltte D'Amboise (I know I got the sp. wrong!) needs to come back. The original revival cast was a treasure, and the whole show could use some work at this point. After last night, I vowed to not see it until there was a new cast. The ensemble members were OK, but half of them need to gain a few pounds, and half need to loose some weight. It's ashame. I actually like the movie better at this point. From past posts about Melanie, you guys seem to be a little obsessed with her as Roxie.

If you'd seen what they did to butcher the show to fit her, you'd be upset too.

And I thought Ann was a strech! Yes, she is getting people to talk.... but when I saw her (see above post) I felt like I was in a High School Auditorium. I dont know how the other performers keep from laughing at some points.

It bothers me that a role would be altered to fit a specific performer's abilities regardless of what that performer's name is. The dancing is integral to Chicago. If an actress cannot or will not do the proper choreography, then maybe it is not the role for her. Perhaps she should have found a role better suited to her skills if she wanted to come to Broadway.
And I would have to agree that the movie was responsible for boosting the show's capacity.
melanie was at the foot doctor today. he said to my sister he didn't think melanie would be able to dance tomorrow...so if you want to see chicago but not melanie hurry and get tickets for tomorrow.
