I was at a special cabaret performance by Charles Strouse tonight, and he said Minsky's has been recast twice since the California production and that it will be the first musical of next season.

Just wanted to share.

What parts did they feel needed recasting?

When does the new season start?

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Recasting wasn't the issue at all with the L.A. production. The cast, on the whole, was just fine.

The book, music, and lyrics needed some major overhauling and refocusing, however.

Where was the performance and how was it? What material and who else performed? What else did charles say and did he comment on the Birdie revial

I too agree that the cast was the least of the shows problems.

garyl--it was a donor event for Roundabout in one of the lounges at the American Airlines Theatre. It was just him, singing songs he wrote...from Annie, Applause, Birdie, and the lesser knowns as well! He didn't say anything about his thoughts on the Birdie revival, but he did thank Roundabout for doing it.

RentBoy--it was recast after the production for a reading, then after that reading for a second reading.

I saw it in LA and thought everything about it was fabulous. I hope that Chris Fitzgerald has survived the re-casting...
