Carol Channing Guests at Hollywood Bowl Concert in Aug. 2003

Broadway legend Carol Channing will be the special guest at the Hollywood Bowl’s “Great American Concert” Aug. 8 and 9.
Channing, best known for her Tony-winning work in Jerry Herman’s Hello, Dolly!, will be part of the annual concert featuring the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra under the direction of John Mauceri. This season’s American tribute will focus on American legends, including theatre veteran Channing.
One of the true superstars of the American musical theatre, Carol Channing recently published her autobiography — "Just Lucky I Guess: A Memoir of Sorts" — on the Simon & Schuster label. In addition to her many triumphs — including her Tony for Hello, Dolly! and her Academy Award nomination for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" — Channing's tome also details some of the obstacles she endured, including her long term food addictions, her battle with cancer and her first marriage to a struggling novelist, Ted Naidish.
The Hollywood Bowl is located at 2301 Highland Avenue in Hollywood, CA. Tickets for the “Great American Concert” are available by calling (323) 850-2000. Go to www.hollywoodbowl.org for more information.

no prob, it'll be my first time experiencing her whatsoever, I've never heard her sing, never seen her act, just heard all about her, so i go in with a clean slate! :)
She did a presentation at Bennington College a few months ago, and it was the most amazing experience! She had us rolling in the aisles with laughter with excerpts from her book!
Miss Channing, now a resident here in Modesto, will be performing at a local downtown theater this Saturday. I was at her book singing a few months ago and had a most delightful chat with her. At least she brings good news to our nationally and negatively publicized little city. Dollypop, I have the flowers ready at the Hollywod Bowl in your behalf and when I see her around town, I'll mention you to her!!!
