Just got an email from MTI telling me that Legally Blonde will be on MTV and they have the rights.

MTI is proud to announce that
LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL
will be joining the MTI Collection of Musicals

"Just got an email from MTI telling me that Legally Blonde will be on MTV"

Why were they telling you this?

I'm surprised rights would be released before the tour.

9/10 - Next To Normal, Ensemble Theatre
9/18 - Brian Stokes Mitchell, Cincy Pop's
9/28 - Death Of A Salesman, Wright State

Well they aren't released yet, just saying that they will be in the future. I don't think Drowsy or Spelling Bee are even released yet, so I can't imagine Legally Blonde is either.

They probably sent it to me so that I would watch it, like it, and then do it with my theater company (which is nonexistent).

I got the email because I'm a member of the MTI club, o something like that. I agree that I'm sure they will have spelling bee and drowsy before Legally Blonde, but it actually seems very accessible to high schoolers.

Well, I know there will be tons of high school girls planning to murder their best friends in hopes of winning the role of Elle. It'll be so dramatic. I feel sorry for the girl who gets cast as Enid. She'll be so made fun of. (Sorry, everyone. But it's the truth!)

Well, The Producers rights came out before the tour didn't it?

They just announced they hold the rights. It's going to tour and have a healthy Broadway run before anyone else can get their hands on it.

I can imagine Spelling Bee becoming very, very, popular in high school productions.

[Oh, and when LB comes to high schools, if anyone tries to steal Serena from me, they're getting harpooned in the forehead.]

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

Yeah, if you're part of the MTI club they would send out that message.

MTI holds the rights to many shows that are on Broadway or just recently closed, but they're restricted. They're just letting you know that they're the place to get the rights once they release them.

My drama teacher is already talking about doing it as a show in the next few years.

I haven't decided whether that's a good or bad thing.
