sorry to backtrack to yesterday, but this bothered me:
"LaChanze, in my opinion, came pretty damn close to the work that Oprah Winfrey did in the film and it was stunning to watch."
One played Celie, the other played Sophia...I dont get the connection.
THE REVEIWS ARE IN
AND I HAVE SEEN THE SAME AMOUNT OF THINGS YOU HAVE
SO DONT FEEL SO SPECIAL
SHE CAN ACT , AND SHE BRINGS A LOT TO THE ROLE
AND IM NOT AN 18 YEAR OLD KID FROM THE MIDWEST MY FREINDS IF YOU WERE REFERRING TO ME
PEOPLE SHE DID AUDITION
HAS ANYONE HEARD HER NEW CD ITS AMAZING AND SHES VERY SUCCESSFUL AN SHE BRINGS A LOT TO THE ROLE
SO WHAT IF HER REAHERSAL PERIOD TOOK LONG ITS A JOB AND YOUR GETTING PAID
THE ACTORS IN THAT REAHERSAL ARE GRATEFUL TO BE MAKING A LIVING
AND YES YOU ARE RIGHT CP WASNT GOING ANYWHERE
BUT FANTASIA IS GREAT
AND YES THERE ARE OTHER ACTORS OUT THERE WHO CAN PLAY THIS ROLE
BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHER MARKETS THAN BROADWAY
IVE MADE A GOOD LIVING IN A LOT OF REGIONAL THEATRES
AND FANTASIA WAS CACKLING IN HER AMERICAN IDOL DAYS
BUT IF YOU READ MY NOTE ON HOW THEY HAD TO TRAIN HER VOICE A DIFFRENT STYLE , OBVIOUSLY YOU DIDNT SEE THAT
HER AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE SHOW IS GRATEFUL TO BE A WORKING ACTOR

Perhaps she has reading troubles, but she's not such a bad typist.
Yes WICKED, we all know that you think she is AMAZING...
*If I had wanted to refer to you directly WICKED, I wouldn't have alluded anything, I would've said your name. Don't count that you've seen the same amount of things as someone you don't know....my friend, you have no idea. I'd love to know about these theatres that have clearly made you the master of the craft - giving you sole judgement over who is great and who isn't on stage based on a CD they recorded for weeks or even months in a studio.
I wasn't mocking her having a long rehearsal process, I'm all for it...I was simply stating that maybe it was given to her to help her build stamina. And from all of your years working in Regional Theatres you should know that stamina is essential to survive a run.
And regarding those comments: we aren't talking about any other markets in this thread, we're talking about Broadway. So it's great for you that you've made a living working regionally, but it has nothing to do with the discussion. No one was attacking your career choices. Many of us have worked both in and out of New York City...but seems to me this isn't the thread to discuss that.
PS - the actors in that rehearsal were mostly understudies and while I'm sure Fantasia enjoyed the support...I'm looking forward to seeing her work with the people who actually do the roles. Darlesia is no joke as Nettie, and Elisabeth has really grown into Shug - I truly hope Fantasia is able to fill the space. And that is not uninformed, that's a very reasonable concern given Fantasia has never done a show or shown any promise as an actress - I mean, really, we only have that Lifetime movie to go off of. It's great that you think she's AMAZING. But you have to understand those of us that are a little concerned.
