Posted: 7/6/04 at 11:41pmtalk to some of the FOSSE cast (Canadian workshop version) as well, no "big" names there, but talented people who have been featured on Broadway and in film since. Their reputations weren't being impugned, however (love that word, "impugned" it's good for your agent/manager to use). Some of their publicity pictures were still driving around NYC on the sides of busses to promote FOSSE long after they were replaced when the show came into town and re-auditioned for the new concept director. One cast member, whose name i won't invoke due to her right to privacy, had three feature numbers created on her in Canada, only to see herself replaced, and the replacement go on to win a Tony nomination. That's gotta hurt. But the original feature's life has gotten a lot better since, while the replacement is playing second or third banana on bad cable channel sitcoms. Karma will out!
Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys.
