One of my best friends and I are directing this years spring musical, Jekyll and Hyde for our senior project. Besides co-directing I will also be starring in the amazing leading role. Auditions for other roles start on Monday and the show will be in May.
This is one of the greatest undertakings my school has ever done and I am anxiously waiting to see what comes of it.
For those who don't know-I go to a very small school (50 students in grades 6-12 with a graduating class of 7) and the show is always a senior (or seniors') project. We do everything: choose the show, go about getting rights, puiblicize it, direct it, ect.
So I would just like to say if you happen to be in the Poconos on MAy 13 or 14 at 8 p.m. come to Evergreen Community School and see Jekyll and Hyde (starring ME!)

Have fun with that one...
Abilene Christian University did J&H last season and I LOVED the way they did the duet/solo song (I forget names). I think it's Confrontation, but could be wrong. It's the song where J says a line, then H says a line, and so on..
Well, what they did was use a mirror, and the reflection in the mirror was Hyde. It worked really well.

If I were closer, I'd be there, but, sorry
I do love Jekyll and Hyde, tho. Break a leg!

thanks guys
During Confrontation Jekyll will be standing CS with his body pointed toward SL, when he turns into Hyde he will move his body into a low crouch pointed SR. When he is Jekyll we will have blue lights on and when he is Hyde we will have red lights on.

Have fun... I'm sure it will be difficult to do.
My school does not take SHP that seriously.

Posted: 11/20/04 at 4:36pmOooo sounds like a big fun project. My senior project last year was doing props for a community theatre company's show. I've stagemanaged J&H before and I absolutley love that show. All I can tell you is that I hope you have nothing else going on in your life while you are directing and playing J&H at the same time. That is one HUGE responsiblilty and stress. Try not to overwork yourself! I'd love to come see it but I don't know where your school is.

I realize it will be difficult and that is one reason that we chose to do it. I love to challenge myself to become a better actor and I know I can do this. I am used to a hectic acting life (I do nine shows in ten weeks over the summer at the theater I work at)
