Hey! How was the closing performance? I have a friend in the show, and I wasn't able to see the closing
Just wondering how it went. Any tears? LOL

I was there, and there were lots of tears at curtain call, particularly from Kate Fleetwood and the Weird Sisters. Patrick Stewart gave a really sweet speech about how life changing the run was for everyone involved, gave special mention to those cast members who came on board for the New York run, and thanked Brooklyn, New York, Actor's Equity, and the producers for being so welcoming and willing to take a gamble on the show.
The performance was absolutely solid, as always, and every so often, I'd realize that this was the last time I'd hear these words spoken by this cast. I can't begin to list everything that I loved or got chills over, but I count myself very lucky that I saw it all.
I'm just so upset that this show is gone! This is the first show since The Light in the Piazza that has truly inspired me and affected me to my very core, and I'm going to miss it enormously.

I know!
I hope the show wins the tony (I'm sure Patrick will)

Don't be sure of anything re: the Tonys. If there should be just one winner (or nominee for that matter!) from this production, it should be Rupert Goold.
Just a thought.

I was shocked Goold wasn't nominated. He was going to be my pick to win the award. Now I guess it will be Anna Shapiro.
As for the Tonys...I think Stewart might win, though I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Rylance takes it at this point.
I don't think they'll win Best Revival, either. I think that will go to Boeing Boeing.

'Macbeth' got Best Director and Best Lighting at the Oliviers. A decision I couldn't fault in the slightest. :3
It's a sad weekend for Shakespeare; the Histories Cycle just finished too. I can't even begin to understand how sad I feel about that.

Weez -
I flew over to London and saw the Histories weekend before last. I spent all this past weekend lamenting the fact that I won't be able to see them again. I don't think I'll ever get over those productions.
Also, to be on topic, I did get to see Macbeth when it was at BAM and it's the best production of that play I've ever seen. I too was shocked that it didn't get a Tony Nomination for best director.

I'm so sad this is closed. I wish I could've been there!
Has anyone watched the 'Best Revival of a Play' "road to the tonys" video on the TONYs website? It shows a short montage of scenes from Macbeth with the song from Act 1 in the background... gave me chills!
