Macbeth or Sunday?
#1Macbeth or Sunday?
Posted: 4/14/08 at 7:00pmThis is probably comparing apples to oranges...but I want to see either Macbeth or Sunday...George this weekend. Which should I see? I'm planning on student rushing whichever show I see, is there one show that is easier to rush than the other, or will one offer better seats?

Both are great, but I preferred SUNDAY.
My MACBETH rush ticket was Mezzanine partial view.
You should be fine in basically any seat you end up in at Studio 54.

I would say Macbeth just because it's closing first (Sunday extended to the end of June), but I haven't seen Macbeth, although I plan to soon. I did see Sunday and absolutely loved it.

Can you see both? I just saw both+South Pacific last weekend. Both are great.
But if you can only see one, I say Sunday.

I don't know if any one can answer this but I've read that rush for Sunday has been kind of hard lately... in that they haven't had it. I know there's not really a way to check ahead of time but it's just something to keep in mind.
If you do see Sunday I would suggest the rear mezz seats. Even in the back row you can see everything and with the discount codes which I think are still available it should come out to about $30.
And if it wasn't clear yet... I'd choose Sunday!

I rushed both of the shows, and I had rear mezz for Sunday (well actually, I did the 26.50 ticket because the sr policy at Studio 54 is half off normal seats) and I found it really hard to engage in, the set was gorgeous however and if you can deal with not being able to see faces too well then I think you will be fine.
Macbeth I rushed for a Sat. Matinee about an hour before curtain and I got balcony seats, I had never seen/read Macbeth so it was really difficult for me to follow (definently not your traditional Macbeth).
My opinion of either show probably would have changed significantly had I had better seats, so my suggestion would be to scout out both and see where you can get better seats. I had a friend who rushed Macbeth and got partial view 2nd row seats that she said weren't too bad (they were behind a sink however).

Posted: 4/19/08 at 4:30pmBox offices generally open at noon on Sunday. I don't think these shows are any different.

Absolutely Macbeth! Good luck and enjoy whichever show you decide to see.

I would go with Sunday in the Park with George. I liked Macbeth, but I think it was another case of press hyperbole striking again. I've seen better productions of it before, even though it is interesting and enjoyable.
Sunday, on the other hand, is receiving a mounting that will likely never be seen with such technological grandeur again. It's an absolute must see and you would do yourself wrong to catch the Scottish play instead.

Posted: 4/20/08 at 8:24amthis may be redundant - but if the website for "Sunday...George" is showing no tickets for today, does that mean they will not be offering any rush tickets? (I'm just trying to save myself from going all the way to 54th if it's true)!

Most ticket websites don't show tickets for that day. I guess they need 24 hours to process the credit card or something.
However, Sunday hasn't had rush tickets available for a while, so you might end up seeing Macbeth by default.
I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you end up seeing.

Posted: 4/21/08 at 1:04pmGo see both! Seriously. These are the two best productions I've seen in a very long time. Both are extremely smart, well directed, complete pieces of theatre. Both of examples of productions where the director truly understands the material and how to make it shine.
