Hey there
I was thinking of rushing THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING next Saturday, July 7 because I'd really like to see it
Anyways, I was looking on Telecharge this morning, and saw that the first performance in July that tickets are being sold for is July 10th
So does that mean Vanessa Redgrave has a vacation the first week of July, or is Telecharge just wrong?

Posted: 6/25/07 at 10:31amI'm guessing they're taking that whole week off rather than face massive refunding. I didn't ask at the box office, but my guess is she needed that week off, so they just decided to go dark the whole week.

Hmm, alright
Maybe since her movie EVENING is also coming out this Friday, she has to do like press for it next week?
Anyways, thanks for the help

Posted: 6/25/07 at 10:35amCould be that and/or family vacation in the country. I know the weekend after the 4th was one of the 2 my parents could come up, so we nixed that. But it all worked out...they're coming up for the weekend the day after my birthday. :) We're seeing it like 4th row or something on the 21st.

Hopefully the deal with HBO to record it will work out. That would be awesome!
Haven't seen Deuce... I've heard good things about Inherit the Wind, and I really enjoyed Frost/Nixon just as other options.

yeah, i was also thinking about FROST/NIXON since they have front-row rush seats
thanks for all the help, jordangirl
and yes, i really hope MAGICAL THINKING gets recorded
oh and i called Telecharge just to make sure it wasn't a glitch with the website, and yes, they said Vanessa Redgrave was on "hiatus" from July 2-8...so yeah, confirmation right there :)

Glad to help! :)
I figured...it does save them massive refunding and a largely empty theatre to just go dark since I have a feeling the vast majority of the people going to see it are going to see her in it. Even moreso than Christine in Grey Gardens.
Have a great trip! :)

Posted: 6/25/07 at 8:46pmI don't know if it's in the Playbill, but IBDB lists Maureen Anderman as Redgrave's standby.
#12re: Magical Thinking- beginning of July?
Posted: 6/25/07 at 8:58pmThere is a stand-by. As commasplice said, it's Maureen Anderman. But my guess is that knowing Vanessa had other commitments for that week, I'm sure that going dark for the week was probably written into the initial contract, especially since she's definitely above title. And I'm sure Ms. Anderman knew going in that they were going dark that week.

Posted: 6/25/07 at 9:09pmIt's probably the Chenoweth situation - if Redgrave takes ill mid performance, Anderman continues. However, if she will call in sick, the show will be cancelled.

Peanut ~ Me? I'll be 36 in a month. And i never said it was easy or fluffy. If you want that, go see Legally Blonde. But it touches on something all of us will face at some point and does so beautifully. And yes, I HAVE lost people I care very much about. Beginning just before I turned 5. So it's not something I know nothing about.
And WickedGeek, that's my guess too.
