I know there are a million threads on the fate of lennon, but I wanted to draw your attention to this article.
It says that they've ditched the 9 Lennon concept. Adopted 1 main Lennon and added more about Lennon's fist wife to the story. Also Yoko comes in much later.
Has anyone seen this since. Is this going to be enough to win audiences over or will they leave from the theatre wondering what it used to be like? Its hard to know with last ditch efforts!
Also what do the actors think? Now that parts have been lessened?

That is interesting. It sounds as if by trying to become more accessible as a biographical storytelling , but also a bit mundane. Even if the format wasn't quite working before at least it was different.
My favorite quote from that article is Yoko's "...to see his story and music reaching such a wide audience in the popular format of a Broadway musical." Okay, she does know that this is Broadway we are talking about not a CBS special. "Wide audience" is pushing it a bit, don't you think?

But Julia's part was *already* so small... Now it's probably less?! *sad*

Excellent.
Now I should go see it and stop talking about seeing it, yeah?

HA, oh Yoko stating the obvious:
"All the songs are sung so well, and the show is so funny, I keep laughing until that moment of John's passing," she said. "Of course, that's when people start crying. I can't help getting choked up, too."
They ended the article with THAT quote? oy.

Posted: 8/13/05 at 3:36pmwell my personal opinion is that it was fine in the first place. The 9 is 1 thing is what gave the show its charm and meaning. I'll have to go see it but if all that has changed then i'll probably hate it. Everyone as usual likes to hate Yoko. She hasn't done anything to make people hate her. She was not the reason why the beetles broke up. This has been evident for years and has been said by each and everyone of the band members at one point. Its sad that people need to point fingers to make themselves feel better, when the true dysfunction was obviously with the members of the band. Yoko today strives to keep johns legacy alive and continually does volunteer work and trying to help the gay community. Yes Yoko is not a saint but in the real world who is.

Aside from the opening and the ending, very little had changed in the show. Albeit, I think the reworked beginning and end is much better AND I thought the show was tighter all around.
