I audition at least once a year for a musical in my high school. This year I sang "Purpose" and in the vocal book it's arranged for a girl. I am a 15 year old girl, and in Q the song as you know is arranged for the male lead. I got a GREAT part w/ that song..however do you think it's better to sing a song pre-made for a girl? Or go w/ however it's arranged in a vocal book? or does it not make a difference?
I'm thinking of doing a segment from "The Next Ten Minutes" from TL5Y, Cathy's part, for an audition, however if I get a male's song that I like more should I do that? Cause chances are, in the vocal book it'll be arranged for a girl. Like "Dancing Through Life"...I don't want to sing that for any audition but it's arranged for a girl, but of course Norbert sang it..
Any comments? Thanks

As long as nothing in the song is gender-specific (and it is age-appropriate--which is why THE NEXT TEN MINUTES may not be suitable), there's no reason why you shouldn't sing it.
Thanks..
And MusicMan, yeah I'm realizing those lyrics now aren't that great for me lol.
