Hello i have to sing a sondheim song that is good for my voice for an assesemnt at college...
I have tried out 'Johanna' but its too easy for my range...
I have tried out 'Giants in the Sky'...but im simply not enjoying it!
Could you please recommend any others to me please!
They have to be composed by Sondheim...
I want to stay clear from Being Alive and other sondheim songs that are supposed to be performed by mature performers in my eyes, even though I fully understand the songs, I think its harder for an auidence to recieve if a late-teenager sings it...
so yes...
:)
thanks

I also say that you should still give "Giants in the Sky" more of a chance. It's a wonderful song that is both a vocal and acting challenge.

Unfortunately, Sondheim doesn't write much for young people. his juiciest stuff is for more seasoned people. But give these a try:
"I'm Calm" (A Funny Thing...)
"Love I hear" (a funny Thing...)
"Not While I'm Around" (Sweeney todd)
"Another Hundred People" (Company)
"Someone Is Waiting" (Company)
"If YOu Can Find Me, I'm Here" (Evening Primrose)
"Take Me to the World" (Evening Primrose)
"Everybody Says don't" (Anyone Can Whistle)
"Good Thing Going" (Merrily...)
"Our time" (Merrily...)
"You Could Drive a Person Crazy" solo version (Company)
"Moments in the Woods" (Into the Woods)
"Hello Little Girl" (Into the Woods)
"Broadway Baby" (Follies) - the sheet music is in a nice man-friendly key.
Good luck and enjoy!
