Can anyone suggest any good solo recordings by singers who have a high belt quota? I am in love with Monsieur Billy Porter's stuff but need a new belt fix.
I'm super-caffeinated right now so any suggestions are likely to be acted upon.
They don't neccessarily have to be Broadway peeps.....
Thanks, team.

Michael Ball has several on his "Essential" c.d and a couple on his new "Music" cd.

For high belt, you might try Sam Harris' album "Different Stages."
He does this big belty (and strange but wonderful) combination of "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This" (from Sweet Charity) and "Move On" (from Sunday in the Park With George). A great arrangement, and he belts it into the rafters.
But Sam's voice is an acquired taste. A bit frenetic and strident. But a super-huge range. Hopefully you know him from Star Search and "The Life."

Posted: 1/23/06 at 10:57amSam Harris' cds are amazing. try Anthony Warlow's solo cds. It's the one with "anthem" from chess on it. he is not a high belter, but his voice is so strong and gorgeous to listen to. he can also be found on the toronto cast double cd of jekyll and hyde- playing jekyll or hyde. any cd he is on is worth considering.

Posted: 1/23/06 at 11:05amI have to agree with Sharon1. Michael Ball can belt out a good one!!!!!! He has quite a few songs like that including the one he is doing right now in WIW. "You Can Get Away with Anything"! It's exactly what you're looking for but a shame it's not on a cast recording!!

Billy Porter - At the corner of Broadway and Soul.
AMAZING and LIVE. He belts "And I'm Telling You" !! and his original songs are great.

It's not a solo recording, but I could listed to Stephen Pasquale sing "On the Streets of Dublin" from A Man of No Importance for hours. It's about the only thing I liked in that show.
The thought of him as Fabrizio in LITP gives me tingles....
