Maltby and Shire's "Take Flight" in Princeton

I saw the opening night performance of this last night and loved it. I could see this being compared to "Ragtime", but "Take Flight" is more historical fact with a smattering of fiction thrown in. This show was produced at London's Chocolate Factory a few years ago. Based on listening to that CD they've made a lot of changes but Shire's gorgeous score is basically intact. "Take Flight" combines the stories of the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindberg and Amelia Earhart into one simultaneous narrative - this concept works a lot better than you might think. I left the theater humming one of the Wright Brother's tunes about squaring Pi and the coefficients of lift.
