This notes that Christine Ebersole is replacing Jean Smart as Vera Charles...sorry if this has been a thread before, but who do you think should be in the upcoming B'way revival?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pattie LuPone as Mame and GLenn Close as Vera. It would never happen, but it would be a hoot.

i alwyas thought that Anne Bancroft would have made a good AUNTIE Mame in the play or a remake of the film... She may be too old now...

I actually saw Christine Ebersole play Mame in The Paper Mill Playhouse production of Mame.

she was just OK ... I hate to say that because I do like her but she didn't give any UMPH to the character. Vocally she was wonderful, but something just wasn't there that you expect from Mame. She didn't have the punch that Mame has.

Cher would be brilliant as Mame!!

And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

I do hope they start filming w/ Cher soon. I've been waiting years for it!
