Well, a friend of mine is in it, so I think the cast is great.
But seriously, the wonderful Carolee Carmello is back, so I would go, if for no other reason, just to see her.

The three current women who are the Dynamo's are Phenomenal of course. Judy Mclane's "does your mother know" is a superb rendition compared to the London Cast (well almost any rendition is better than the cast recording for Mamma Mia) . Carolee Carmello embraces the role of Donna very well. Her Vocals are out of this world.
But not sure about the rest of the cast....

Thank you for the feedback. I spontaneously ended up grabbing a partial view orchestra ticket and went last night.
Despite the empty seats (or closed balcony sections) I've been hearing at other shows, the Winter Garden was quite full. I didn't notice any empty seats.
Mamma Mia was as much fun as I last recalled. I was disappointed that Carolee Carmello wasn't there, but her understudy (didn't catch her name) was equally wonderful ... as well as the other four understudies. The only person I didn't particulary care for was Allison Case. Could it be that she's fairly new to the role? I don't know much about her. Her acting was okay. Her singing could be better.

Sorry you missed Carolee last night. She is beyond brilliant!!!!
I've seen the show 4 times......just to see her. Will be back in NYC the first weekend of December, and have a ticket, just to see her. She's unbelievable!

Posted: 11/21/08 at 3:29pmI loved the current cast. Carolee is amazing & there is NO funnier Rosie that Gina Ferrall. I don't understand the Allison hate, I like her, but to each their own.

Posted: 11/21/08 at 4:54pmWhen I saw the show in the spring, all three leads were fantastic. Carolee Carmello, especially. Much, much better singer than that awful woman on the cast recording.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:15amCarolee Carmello's Donna ranks high on my list of most amazing musical theatre performances I've seen. She turns it into a 5-Act tragedy. Genius performance.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 12:00pmEchoing the praise from above, you really can't get much better than Carolee Carmello/Donna and Judy McLane/Tanya. They're darn near perfection.
