How is it that Mama Mia has reached 1,000 performances before the broadway production, which opened 2 years before?

Do they perform 2 shows a day? Or do they have 2 show days more than twice a week?

I think they have more shows in a week, but I couldn't be sure. And it's MamMa with 2 m's. You wouldn't believe how much hassle that spelling mistake has caused the London box office.

Casino contracts are different in that you can have up to 10 performances a week since the shows are only an hour and a half long.

Isn't Mamma Mia! Vegas a full length production, though?

Yes it is approaching its 1,000 show and they do 2 shows on Saturday. It is also done with an intermission, as opposed to the 90-min "Vegas style" show.

From what I know Avenue Q will be full length but Phantom and Hairspray will be 90 min.

Mamma Mia! is a full production and the cast is top notch.

Yes -- the cast is fabulous -- they definitely make it something special. I can't remember when I've been more surprised, or enjoyed a show more.
