Posted: 8/7/04 at 11:47pmNow that Sara Kramer is leaving the tour of Mamma Mia to do Sophie on Broadway, who will be the new Sophie on tour? Anyone know?

I think better suited than Sara Kramer ( who's going to Broadway... go figure! ) I'd have to say my favorite would have been Betsy Morgan. I saw her in Hartford and Pittsburgh, not only is she totally adorable ( can actually identify with the line "girl with golden hair"), she CAN act and she CAN sing!!! After just two times seeing Betsy, I'd go anywhere to see her in the role! She just moves across the stage so naturally, not choppy. Her acting reminded me of Monique Lund as Donna from the original 2nd National Tour. Very comfortable on the stage and very convincing. Some of the others seem just, just, just... there. Oh well, I'm not a casting director. Bekah will do fine, but I'd buy more tickets if it were Betsy. ( I've seen Mamma Mia various casts and cities 47 times )

I just saw the Mamma Mia tour in Cincinnati last week. Bekah Nutt was on for Sophie as well as an understudy for Rosie. I think Bekah acted the role just fine, but her voice is not strong enough for the music. I think she has a pretty voice, but she seems very timid when she sings.
As for the rest of the show, I did not enjoy the Rosie understudy Wendee Lee Curtis at all. I think all the quirks with the character were all but gone. However, this was my fourth time seeing this show and Lori Haley Fox was by far the funniest and most entertaining Tanya I have seen. She had me laughing out loud!
As far as the production, the only negative I thought was that a lot more of the music was taped than I remember. I mean they had a small orchestra, but you could always tell when the music was as the commercial says, 'live or memorex'.
Anyway, had a good time at the show as always!

Bekah played Ali when I saw it in Cleveland.
Also, the only thing that is 'taped' is the finale. There are 4 keyboards, which makes it sound so techno.
