"The Harry Potter novels have been read by millions more and J.P. Rowley couldn't carry Knut Hamsun's pen."
No, probably not, especially if her name is J.K. Rowling.

I think you just come off as some crazed ABBA fan in the minority of what's going on here. ABBA is NOTHING in the US. They scored 1 (count em) 1 #1 hit song DANCING QUEEN some 30 years ago....and have not had the mass appeal or transcendental appeal that you claim in the states.
I was posting based on facts and the things I witnessed with my movie going experience..And just upon listening to the few old women around me and leaving the theater...none of them really enjoyed the film stating that the stage show was better, commenting badly on Pierce Brosnan and how they expected it to be so much more than what the commercials made it seem.
I was honestly reporting.
Back to ABBA's lackluster appeal.
Not even the ABBA heavy film MURIEL's WEDDING ( a great comedy) could be saved as it grosses just 15 million in the states overall.
and with upcoming comedies such as Tropic Thunder, Hamlet 2, House Bunny, Pineapple Express..and mega monster hits such as THE MUMMY, X Files, the tween hit Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (which I assure you will show more of Greece than Mamma Mia did)...
Mamma Mia will be long gone and forgotten.
ABBA in no way has sold the amount of records worldwide that The BEatles, Elvis, Michael jackson, Frank SInatra or even Bing Crosby has sold. at best...ABBA is considered a novelty act that was only together for about 9 years, and as fluff as fluff can be. Almost a joke.
The Dark Knight (an empire that has lasted over 70 years)..shouldn't have even been compared to an ABBA musical.
What makes Mamma Mia sell well in NYC on Broadway is that it is piled up to the rafters with tourists...but the american appeal is not there.
The Dark Knight just broke all opening day box office records....Mamma Mia..with a modest start at 9 million will gain momentum and then die. It has no staying power and not even half as funny as 'my big fat greek wedding'...a great summer sleeper hit a number of years back.
Word will get out as to how cheesy and horribly done the film is. and it will attract old women and gay men who could stomach ABBA. that's about it.
This is a board where people have the right to post an opinion. and that is mine. And that is how I feel about it.
You can agree or agree to disagree...but there's no need for your extra fodder to try and rile me up as it will just not work..and truthfully, you're barking up the wrong tree. Calling me closed minded...doesn't work as well. I just think you need to wake up.Seriously.
After so many years on these boards...you truly fall into one of 'those' categories of people a lot of us here simply start to ignore. You enjoy to rile people up for attention just to get responses...for your own trivial needs. So you can feel better for yourself at the end of the day.
There is no need for you to attack my statements or make a mockery of them on here.
I see that with just a month in on these boards...you have caused a couple of stirs in your past posts. keep the momentum up and you will get reported with ease.
The Dark Knight has appealed more than just teen boys as you claim. People have a solid interest in a movie with as much dynamic drama as it does action. A well written script and one of the best ensemble performances by a cast in a while. Maggie Gylenhaal and Morgan Freeman, aaron Eckhart and even Eric Roberts and Michael Caine are amazing in this film. And yes,..there is hype..alot of it...about HEath...but you know what? He does a terrific job. The caliber of this kind of filmmaking alone..and to take a comic book and make it feel so realistic..unlike a Spiderman.is truly a remarkable achievement.
Of course I think The Dark Knight has flaws....
but to even compare a behemoth of a vehicle next to a little Abba musical (knowing how musicals really don't fare well in the states) was a ridiculous comparison to begin with.
