Can I pretty please get some reviews of this show? The clips of music on its website are amazing. I'm strongly considering seeing this. How is it?

I saw it recently -- and it is impressive, dramatic, and very poignant. It is different from the current genre of musicals in terms of the book ( a retelling of Cervantes' tale of his imaginary, idealistic knight during the time of the Spanish inquisition) and there are many great standalone songs ( The Impossible Dream, Lord of La Mancha, Dulcinea, etc).

Brian Stokes Mitchell does justice to the role ( surprising that he wasn't a TONY favourite for this dream role) - great golden voice.

However, I also had the opportunity to see the original stage version with Richard Kiley - and I find myself prefering the simplicity of that staging compared to the current version. That one made me fully sympathize with the character of this quixotic knight - something I did not feel with BSM's characterization.

But I would recommend that you go ahead and see it!

I enjoyed Man of LaMancha. I think it was reviewed by me in an earlier post. Brian Stokes Mitchell's voice is the best I have heard on Broadway so far. Go see it......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am biased (as you can see by screen name), but go ! That is all that I will say. It is a crowd pleaser. DW and I, along with a friend, have seen this current production 15 times. We have pleaded with co-workers to get tix, and they all cant wait to tell us how much they enjoyed it. My guess is that you will feel the same way !!

I am going to see MOLM on July 23rd. (matinee of course) I have the cast recording and I am anxious to see the actual production. It really is a gem. I am also anxious to see Mazzie. She was wonderful in Kiss Me Kate with BSM. I can't wait to see them together again.

I enjoyed the show v. much but still found the two ballet/dance numbers ,1) the rape &2) the gypsy dance a bit cold & I still can't figure out why. Ernie was well cast as Panza. I liked BSM as Quixote better that as Cervantes. I never got him as pleading for his life. I disliked the set a rusted out tin can the stairway scared me wide open slats. MEM was in when I saw it I was very impressed. The supporting cast is excellent too. And I was able to pull out of the "moment" long enough to peek around @ "impossible dream" and yes half the crowd was choking back sobs. Very moving VERY worthwile.
