Mr. S -- I have always delighted in the musical sequences in this delicious Bette Midler/Lily Tomlin/Bette Midler/Lily Tomlin film.(not a typo-those who know the film get my meaning.) It brought a huge smile to my face when I watched the closing credits and found that the musical delights were provided by YOU.
I was certainly aware of some your "very high profile achievements," like HAIRSPRAY and SISTER ACT and your long time association with Bette Midler, including your divine work on her farewell to Johnny Carson performance.
I took a moment and read more of your career history. WOW. I knew you were handsome and I knew you were a very special talent. I did not know how prolific you were. Do you ever take a day off? Your body of work is incredible. I had no idea how many wonderful moments in my life have been provided by YOU. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to my world. :)
Wow, this post is going to make me vomit. I guess WISH is trying to make up to Mr. Shaiman for posting out and out lies in a previous thread and being called on the carpet by Mr. Shaiman for doing so.
I love this movie.........and the music. We watch it monthly if not more......and use several of the lines all the time.......Bette and Lily at their best.....
big business is just TOO wonderful! "Is this how we dress at the office? You look like a bloodclot!"
More Chapstick?
Tuttle, there isn't enough chapstick in the world.
ooh, flattery!!!!
yes WISH, I have worked a LOT with Bette MiDDler!!

LOL
at first I thought the title of this thread meant WISH had been spying on me in the shower!
This is just way too funny. You would think that before trying to kiss Marcs beautiful tush he would first apologize for lying, putting words in Marks mouth, and making all of us read all his bull.
Marc is being very gracious considering. Dame, what took you so long!
LOL. Honey; this hussy sometimes has to work for a living.
"at first I thought the title of this thread meant WISH had been spying on me in the shower!"
Marc, are you moonlighting at Falcon AGAIN?
by the way, my only musical contributions to BIG BUSINESS were one score cue (my first movie scoring job) and Bette's 2 musical moments: singing and yodeling while milking a cow, and then her yodeling in front of The Plaza Hotel
the rest was a score by someone else
Someday, when I am not at the piano and if my arm is twisted, I shall tell the tale of how I got this first movie job and then how it all fell apart...it's a real tear-jerker!!!
Marc,
As one of the lucky ones who got to sit front and center for your one man show at the Village in LA; I wish you would do it again. You definitely have enough stories and material. By the way.. whatever happened to Jennifer Lewis doing Hairspray? If I remember correctly she said that day she was doing it on broadway ( or did you say that?)

Oooh, Miss Jenifer ("Coco will burn your tongue") Lewis, the diva of all divas. Love huh.
And Marc, you could save that story for your one man Broadway extravanganza. Heck, everyone else has gotten one (including the upcoming Martin Short one that you're writing) -- when's your turn?
Mmmmmmmm......taffy.........
Jennifer was the headliner on the first gay cruise I ever took ( through Alaska). She was quite the character. I freaked her and her man out during the white party night.
Marc that yodel song is brilliant.........my neighbors hate it as I tend to play it loud.....
I'm going to Hairspray with my Mom, it's the first show she's ever seen, she is the real Edna! South Park the Movie rocks major balls too! YEAHHHHHHHH!
Mr. S-- there is no truth to the rumor that I was the one who set up the spycam in your shower.
BIG BUSINESS is one of those confections that many of us don't take the time to savor. I've been in Bette mode lately, I guess. Saw FOR THE BOYS again the other night. Some wonderful work in that film.
Big Business just cracks me up!!
Wait, is that chocolate on your nose?
