So I just learned that she was in Rent in 1997 or so. Did anyone on this board see her? Odd question but I am curious as to how she was. There are no video's that I could find of her in the role.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 8:06pmI did not see her, but I've generally heard good things about her Mimi. I hardcore fans of the show initially hated her simply because she was not Daphne (she was the first replacement), but eventually came to become really attached to her. She was in the show for almost 2 years I believe, from 1997 to 1999.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 8:20pmShe was excellent- if she wasn't quite as unique and special as Daphne who seemed to live yhe part, Marcy was arguably a better and more consistent singer and she looked very young which was also a plus.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 8:29pmI agree with MB that Marcy was excellent as Mimi. I loved her vocals and she acted the role exquisitely. And, by the way, Harriell has two Ls.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 9:24pmShe might have been good in RENT but she was downright horrendous in the Encores! production of KISMET. Really, no one could have been worse in that particular role.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 9:45pmI saw her several times in Rent and loved her. I also remember the hardcore Rent 'line queens' from back in the day being pretty harsh toward her, at least in the beginning of her run.

Posted: 11/5/10 at 11:57pmAfter all these years and having seen the show a zillion times, she remains my favorite Mimi, no question. She was part of an early early replacement cast (was she the second Mimi?) that included Jim Polous and Norbert Leo Butz. The show was incredible then.

Marcy was absolute fabulous in RENT,,,something about her sunken dark eyes and curly hair and vulnerability. By far one of the better Mimi's in RENT. Now, as much as I LOVED Tamyra Grey in the role, Marcy was simply outstanding....
