A great idea! As youve seen on the other posts- 99% of the theatre going public hate The Hilton (the theatre not her!-well!) Why dont we get the Times Sq Church to move to The Hilton and let us have a beatiful theatre back. The Hilton is closer to the churches namesake and Young Frankenstein would look fantastic at the Hellinger. Yea!
"Most Broadway Theatres are ugly and cold..."
I don't agree: The Shubert, the Broadway, the Imperial, the Hirschfeld, the Neil Simon, the Palace, the Lyceum, the New Amsterdam--all beautiful theatres with stories to tell.

The Apollo
The Apollo Victoria
Victoria Palace
Novello ...... all are old victorian theatres with the most lush and detailed auditoriums.
Broadway has great houses as you mentioned but they tend to be rather stark in decor compared to Londons. All London theatres can be viewed freely on different sites. take a look and enjoy. I adore The Palace on Broadway wow!
From 1973 to 1987 I went to London on several occasions and attended performances at many of the theatres there. There is no mistaking the fact that many are very beautiful indeeed and tend to be more elaborate and elegant then some of the NYC theatres. I particularly remember the large Drury Lane Theatre where I saw the musical BILLY with Michael Crawford, which I loved. (It should have transferred to NYC.) I have forgotten the names of most of the theatres that I was impressed with. I don't think they were any of the ones you just mentioned.

When Sunset Boulevard came to Broadway, some people were whining because it wasn't able to go into the Hellinger.
