I'm so excited he's reprising his performance as Olivia - I've heard it's amazing! He's taking on Richard III too; I have no doubt he'll be better than Spacey. Hopefully one or both will transfer to Broadway? Twelfth Night and Richard III both open at Shakespeare's globe this fall before transferring into the West End.

I saw Rylance in JERUSALEM, and I was impressed but not moved. He is a very effective and imaginative performer, but it feels very external to me, as though he is doing things for the effect rather than because the character is doing them naturally. I would compare his performance to one that did reach me and felt intensely emotional - Geoffrey Rush in EXIT THE KING - another highly physical and demanding role, and yet I felt that the character was bewlidered and suffering, not acting bewildered and suffering. And, heaven knows, that is not a play that on the face of it offers much humanity until the end.
OK, but who's illegitimately the best?
