What a great season for theatre here in LA.
1. The Mystery of Love & Sex: Feb 10-Mar 20
2. Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3): Apr 5-May 15
3. Disgraced: Jun 8-Jul 17
4. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom: Aug 31-Oct 16
5. The Beauty Queen of Leenane: Nov 9-Dec 18
I am really excited to see Disgraced since it won the Pulitzer Prize.

I just love that theater and the way it is set up! The physical space. I wish they staged more musicals there!
I can see Fun Home being done there. But the tour is going to be re-staged and will most likely go to the Pantages or Ahmanson. They get all the big tours. The only way, would be if Center Theatre Group made their own production, not part of the tour but LA production.

Fun Home would be perfect there. It'll get lost at the Pantages. It's just too big.
The Pantages is my favorite theatre in LA. Yes, it's big but you pay for what you get :p

I LOVE the Pantages. It's gorgeous. But Fun Home is an intimate musical and I don't think that's the right venue for it.
Touring shows don't really care. I know it's fact that Nederlander theatre shows go to the pantages 100% of the time since they own the Pantages. Shubert theatres almost always go to the Ahmanson. Once and Pippin played the pantages and those were intimate shows. I mean if you sit close it shouldn't matter at all. I have season tickets so I rather the show come here. I'm sure there are cities where they only have one huge theatre. I think it would be awesome for tours to go to small theatres but it won't happen. Especially if it won Best Musical.
Can't figure out if the "War plays" are three separate plays, or just parts to the one play?
I know right? Maybe it's three acts to one story or three different stories that have to do with one theme.

I wouldn't call Pippin an intimate show.

Father Comes Home is a play in 3 acts (or parts) its ultimately the first play in a trilogy so ultimately there will be 9 parts.

Has anyone seen the production of Disgraced? I am curious what anyone thought.
I've seen it twice. It was AMAZING. My english teacher saw it too and is making the class buy the book and do an essay on it. One of the best acted plays I've seen in a while. Highly recommend.
I saw Disgraced last week and thought it was very good. Since this was my first time seeing the material I have nothing to compare it to, but it deals with a difficult subject in an interesting way. I thought all of the actors fit their parts well, and half of the cast stayed for a short audience talk afterward. My husband and I spent the whole ride home and then some discussing the play, so if the intent is to provoke thought and discussion, they are succeeding.
We bought discount tickets on TodayTix, and even from the second to last row of the theater it was easy to see and hear everything. I'd definitely recommend the show.
