Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the boards, but I follow them occasionally, so I'm not completely unfamiliar (I know about the coolkid ordeal!) Nonetheless, any tips?

Anyway, my first post seeks out anyone who has worked in marketing for various arts programs (i.e. broadway theatre, opera, classical music.)After my freshman year at pharmacy school, I've decided that counting pills for 120k a year is not for me, and that I'd like to pursue a degree in marketing, and eventually work in the arts.

What really swayed me into this career change was a small gig I got with the NYC Opera this past spring - I blogged opera performances for the NYCO as part of a student correspondent series. Some of my blog entries can be found at the link below. (My name's Emil Narciso)

Anywho, How do you who work in such environments enjoy your jobs? How's the outlook for available jobs in the near future? Do you have any tips on getting started early?

Thanks for any help you can provide! And I look forward to spending much more time on the BWW boards!

Yes, definitely take advantage of your professors and pick their brains. This sounds very exciting! Good luck!

As for marketing, it's so general, you could end up in a variety of places. Marketing isn't just advertising. There's media, ad sales, publicity, promotions, etc. etc.

Counting pills for $120K a year doesn't sound like such a bad thing to me. Wanna switch?

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

hahaha... and then try telling seniors with high blood pressure to wait an hour for their blood pressure medicine, pay ridiculous amounts of money, while explaining to them why they can't drink grapefruit juice with the pills.

and then there's organic chemistry(!)
