I'm considering buying the $25 presale AMEX seats for La Cage, which are located in Row M of the mezzanine. Anybody sit there before for millie or any other show at the marqui? Is it a good deal?
I sat mezz row M seat 2, it was a great view! The theatre's big but there weren't obstructions or anything :)
The Marquis is one of the few big theaters I have been too in which the rear mezzanie seats are good. Definitely a good deal.

Somewhat unrelated, but Rear Mezz seats at the Gershwin are great, at least IMHO
I agree - I sat last row of the rear mezz for "Wicked" and the seats were quite good. Anybody else sit in the last row at the Marquis - people are slowly beginning to convince me that Row M is a good deal for La Cage. Updated On: 9/18/04 at 04:58 PM

I too sat last row for Wicked. Our seats were the best, as I was in the exact center... I was lined up with the center notch of the stage (shaped like a clock gear).
I was on the left side, and it was still a fantastic, clear and comfortable view/seat. I'm hoping that the Marquis is similar? Anybody else?

The rear mezz. at the Marquis theatre are VERY good! I sat there for Millie, and they, cant remember exactly wear I sat, were VERY good seats!:)Enjoy the show!

OK.......DISAGREE!!!....sort of.
i HAD to sit front row (row a) in the mezz for wicked and i HATED it. maybe bc im so used to seats that are actually GOOD, but it was HORRIBLE. we were SOOO high up (you know its bad when youre looking DOWN at "defying gravity") and i was all the way in the front row. it can also be annoying if the chorus only plays to the orchestra (which they did) so you felt totally left out which was annoying and reminded me of an "i want to be a producer" adlib ("dont forget about the balcony, girls"). i dont agree that theyre good seats, again this is just in the gershwin (but the marquis is a big theater too), but, for the price, i guess if you can tolerate them, theyre worth it.
i would say, buy normal seats for your first experience with the show, and then if you want to see it again, THEN hit up the cheap seats. but thats just IMO.

MILLIE was such a great show. Didn't Corine rave about it for Passover?
Dolly, have you ever sat in the rear at the Marquis? I trust your opinion....and thanks to FosseBoi and all others who have responded.

I hate to sound rude, andyf, but $100 for a seat for almost anything is not 'normal'. Prices being what they are today, some people (incl. myself) cannot afford "normal" seats.
I never see a show unless I can sit within the first 8 rows of the orchestra. It Really makes a difference in my enjoyment of the show. I never realized how bad other seats are until I got used to being close. Now I can't stand be back any further. I suggest you try up close for once. Just to see if it improves your experience. I did mine!
