Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me....Special Event or Musical?

I was wondering...Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life counted as a Musical and not a Special Event at the Tonys last year will Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me be eligible for Musical or Special Event?

It's been ruled a musical, last I heard. Hence, they're able to get acting and writing (and everything else) nominations.

If they keep the Special Event Tony (they didnt last year) then this is a bad call. Short has no chance at winning a Tony for musical, or actor or anything else (even though the show is great), if its a musical. If Fame Becomes Me is ruled an Event, I think Short would have a very good shot. The only benefit I can see to ruling it a musical, is Marc's score could (and should) get a nomination.

Sadly I see the same thing happening with Jay Johnson, he will probably be considered a play. This could have been a strong year for Special Event, consider what COULD have been eligible depending on the rulings.

It would seem to only be fair to the rest of the company of Fame Becomes Me to have it ruled as a musical. But, it can be a tricky line when the show seems to be something only the star could perform.
