Mary Bond Davis??

This afternoon I was half watching MSNBC while cleaning up a bit and they decided to talk about a few of the commercials that will be running during the Super Bowl (AKA Hetero Fest of watching jocks with homosexual tendacies that are rationalized by pads and a ball), and they previwed an ad for STAPLES office supply store wherein employees of a company bribe the man in the store room to get office supplies using verious types of food..

I do belive Mary Bond Davis plays one of the workers..

If it isn't her then I saw a Mary clone.

Interesting. Does anyone know if it was her or a clone?

re: re: Mary Bond Davis??

It was hard to tell cause she only appears from literally one second and says like 3 words....

Ms Davis to us all.

I worked with Mary at a "survival" job for about a month in 1999 and she mentioned appearing on The Merv Griffin Show when she was a young girl ... so it shouldn't surprise anyone that she gets work!

The woman's been in about 10 Broadway Shows, "original" casts, including Jelly's Last Jam, Bring in Da Noise, etc., Ragtime, Showboat (Hal's revival) and now Hairspray .... and I've seen her in a Tums commercial ... AND she was the featured vocalist during the ceremony to start the run of the torch during the Olympics, appearing on stage in Washington, DC, and at the end, President Bush came over and talked to her and shook her hand!!

And, finally, (you'd think I'm her biographer!) I saw a Melba Moore interview on Like It Is or whatever that show is called, and Melba told the story of how Mary Bond sent her to the Hair audition and helped Melba navigate through the audition process during her start ....

Mary's got it going ON! ...and she's very nice, too.

I like Mary. Perhaps you should re-read my post.

You were being snarky to me, as though I'd said something negative, which I did not. Not to or about Mary, not to or about other posters.

It's all in the way you read it.

I was being enthusiastic.

re: Mary

Mistress, you know her?!? It still amazes me how many people on this sight have ties to professional theater. But again, I am just a naive little teenager.

re: re: Mary

Etoile, you just proved why nobody likes you. I don't think mentioning that is even funny...I could say some nasty things to you right now, put it is a public forum.

BB, that WAS a great post. I loved it. You said "so it shouldn't surprise anyone that she gets work!" I was telling you we love her and are happy for her. We are not suprised at all.

There's nothing more invigorating than seeing the proud silhouette of a skinny-dipping Mary Bond Davis posed naked on a rock as she prepares to dive, Lord love her.

Mary

MusicMan, where have you seen this silhouette? Intriguing. Please tell us more.

And BT11, I learned at a very tender age not to make life a popularity contest. Perhaps you should too. I don't come on any board to make friends. Sorry, for you, if you do. And your attempted insult means nothing to me. Because I also learned very early in life that I should only respect the opinions of people I respect.

And yes, Namo, you are somebody and you do count.

Where do you people get these things? I love when people take a message and misinterpret it COMPLETELY! Oh, and may I add that you must have an extremely LAME life.

brdwaybaby17,

yep I know Mary. :) Shes one cool chick.

re: re: re: Mary

Great interview, Mistress Spouzic!!

I'm sure it's rare to find someone as honest as Mary, right?

Really enjoyed it. Thanks.

I was particularly interested in what she said about Bernard Telsey refusing to see her for the role. What could possibly be good about a casting director REFUSING to see someone? What? It wastes 10 minutes of their time?? I thought I was the only performer they treated badly, but I guess not. The shame is that they cast so many big cast shows.

I like etoile too. Back when I was a newbie here asking for suggestions about my NYC trip, etoile was extremely helpful to me with his kind suggestions. And I always enjoy BwayTheatre11's posts. Come on guys, no need to be harsh to each other, at least in public :)

Take care
