A friend of mine randomly got tickets to a preview of The Magdalene off-Broadway. Anyone hear anything about this? Richard Maltby, Jr. is attached. It was actually pretty shocking. Like a love story between two people who just happen to be Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. Very strange show but I had a good cry by the end.

And I say strange because of the little lamb girl. Is she a lamb or is she a girl? Is she a you or a ewe?

Saw one of the first previews last week. There have been some controversial stories regarding Mary Magdalene in the past but there was nothing controversial or shocking in this production. As far as ewe or you, baaaaaahhhh! Performances are strong, music enjoyable, the strongest being the closing number.
"A bad attempt at Jesus Christ Superstar with tits," he said, as he switched the dial on the radio.

DIFFERENT AND EXPERIENCE SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THE THEATRE!
^ Hi, shill!
The story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus was always one of my favorite love stories. Wish I could see this...

Poor Mary Magdelene, forever down in history as a prostitute when she probably wasn't one.
Sad, true, but Mary Magdalene, prostitute and lover of Jesus Christ, is a better literary character, at least, than Mary Magdalene, friend of JC, who is friends with prostitutes and relatively celibate for a rabbi in his time period.
Every time I read about this show, I can't get that song from On the Twentieth Century out of my head.
"Take your wine away! Reborn am I today! Redemption! Our sins will be forgiven. And we shall be forgiven...No! I need another drink..."
