Sooo..I know this question has been asked many times before but would like to know for sure: is there going to be a MARY POPPINS Orignal Broadway cast recording?

I assume it will depend on how it fares on Broadway.

I believe the ensemble was recording some stuff for a BC/EFA holliday album. At anyrate I know the photo you speak of as I saw it several weeks ago. I was hopeful that it was them recording the album but alas, I heard it was a charity thing. This coupled with the fact that they were selling repackaged with the Broadway logo London Cast Albums at the show and a Disney Theatrical Rep told me that it wouldn't be recorded doesn't bode well. I wish I had better news. Hopefully I'm wrong!
I'd also like to add, while I appreciate having different recordings of shows, from a business standpoint, it really doesn't make sense for them to make a Broadway Cast Album. I know that they've done multiple recordings of BATB but I think Disney got wise and realized that they can make more money just making one english version of a cast album. If I'd bought the album at the show last week, though it was the London Cast, I wouldn't have been disappointed with it as a representation of the New York show. If the average guest is happy, it makes no sense to put forth more effort.
There will only be an Original London Cast CD. This has happened before in such shows as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Woman in White, in recent years.

Considering Gavin Lee would be on both, I don't see the need to make it. It would be different if Gavin Creel opened the show over here, then it would be a fresh, new cast, but there's really no need for it.
That photo is neither the OBC recording nor the Carols for a Cure recording. I have a friend in the photo and he said it is the cast recording background tracks for the show.
