Mary Wickes did a non musical version of Mary Poppins for television many years before the Disney/Andrews version.

Anyone seen it? Is it obtainable?

It was for the Studio One tevevision series. Done live, so if it's out there saved somewhere I would be pretty surprised. Too bad, she is a great choice for the role and I would love to see it.

She was hilarious, and had a 60-plus year career. One of my favorite character actresses, and a famous St Louis native, who returned here often through the years to perform and teach. Also, a close friend and colleague of Lucille Ball's. Her Mary Poppins was broadcast in 1949, so I would be astonished if it survived in any form.

I believe in one episode of I LOVE LUCY, Mary Wickes is Lucy's ballet teacher.
