Matt's great and I'm so glad he's been given the opportunity to play this iconic role.

You should have asked him about the time he played a Shark in Summer Stock.
Congrats to Matt and his success!

Matt still does both shows on Saturdays, right?

I'll ask him, Eris, but he's very lax about checking his e-mails or responding to phone messages. Is there a particular Saturday you have in mind? He frequently switches off with his alternate.

I'm not sure yet. I want to revisit him as Tony before the show closes. I thought there was a schedule posted but I couldn't find one via google.

I'm sure there's a schedule posted, but I know that he often swaps performances with the other Tony when one of them has another commitment. It happened while I was interviewing him.

He's normally off Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons.

Thanks. For some reason I was thinking he didn't do any matinees.

Jeremy Jordan (who in my opinion is a far better Tony than Hydzik) does Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees, until this Sunday. Matt Shingledecker assumes that role starting Wednesday night.

However, as Dolly said, I've seen them swap performances numerous times so there really is no guarantee, but in general, Hydzik doesn't do Wednesday nights or Sunday afternoons.

I don't understand why he would be off so often. Its not a horribly demanding role. Or is this the way things are now with the new young crop of B'way leads?

Try hitting those top notes in "Maria" 8 times a week and then talk about whether it's a tough role. Leonard Bernstein didn't write "songs", he wrote "arias"--and very beautiful ones.

I can't speak to their acting, but Hydzik and Jordan both have wonderful voices.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
